FAQs

  • How are the awards judged?
    All entries for the Essex Wedding Awards will be independently judged after the closing date by a carefully selected, handpicked panel that comprises of industry specialists, professionals, and engaged couples. The judges will be analysing every entry with consideration from the consumers' point of view. They will look at and read each submission and then select a shortlist from all the entries received. We ensure the process is completely private and confidential, fair and unbiased. You can be clear in the knowledge that each entry will be independently and impartially judged on its own merits. Upon joining the panel each judge signs a confidentiality agreement specifying that they will not reveal any information about the judging or applicants. They must also declare that they have no connection with any entries. Please note that staff and Directors of Main Event Wedding Shows will not participate in any judging whatsoever. This represents the hard work behind the scenes leading up to the grand Gala dinner where all winners are revealed and the trophies are presented. Closing date for receipt of entries is 9th October 2024 or for UBS & by post. The judges' decision is final. The Couples Choice award is an exception to the above and is the only award voted by brides and not our judging panel. The winners of these awards will be the Essex based organisation that receives the most votes via an email questionnaire. Recently married and engaged couples may vote according to the terms and conditions shown on the category page of this website. There will be no finalists for this award, only an outright winner. Any category which the organisers decide has insufficient entries may not be put through to judging. Please note that this may occur close to judging date after all entries are received.
  • What is the couples choice award?
    The Couples Choice award is the only award voted by brides, this is not judged by our panel. There is a fee to enter this category due to the level of admin involved. We have 2 awards in this category; Couples Choice Wedding Venue of the Year Couples Choice Wedding Service of the Year The winners of this is award will be the Essex based organisation that receives the most votes via an email questionnaire. Recently married and engaged couples may vote according to the terms and conditions shown on the category page of this website. There will be no finalists for this award, only an outright winners. If you would like to enter the Couples Choice award – the customers need to complete a short questionnaire which can be found at essexweddingawards.co.uk/couples-choice This is the only category that is awarded by the amount of votes/emails we receive. All other categories are viewed and decided by the panel of judges.
  • How do I enter the Essex Wedding Awards?
    Entering the awards couldn’t be easier. Register your entry by clicking on the ENTER NOW button at the top of the site and choose which category you would like to enter. You may enter as many categories that are relevant to your business. Once you have paid your £65 (inc. VAT) fee for each category you wish to enter, your place will be reserved. Send us your supporting material by 9th October 2024. Your entry must consist of work supplied during October 2023 and October 2024 Please see 'How do I submit my entry' for full details. All entrants must have been trading for a minimum of 12 months as at time of judging (16th October 2024) and be based in Essex.
  • How do I submit my entry?
    You can submit your entry: How do I submit my entry? You can submit your entry in the following ways; By Email If you would like to send your complete entry to us on email, please ensure this is sent by the official closing date 9th October 2024 to vanessa@mainweddingsandevents.co.uk. On the judging day, date to be confirmed - to be held at Chelmsford City Racecourse. Timings and access will be confirmed closer to the event. If you are supplying a memory stick for the judges, we suggest letting us have this prior to the event to ensure we can open this and view details. By post All postal submissions must be received by Wednesday 9th October 2024 directly to: Main Event Wedding Shows Ltd, P.O. Box 13123, Chelmsford, Essex. CM1 9HL.
  • What am I judged on?
    You will be judged on your answers to the criteria questions, so please answer these in as much detail as you feel necessary but keeping each answer to 500 words or below. Ensure you answer every question as the judges will be using a scoring method for each question answered. Please ensure your entry is up to date with correct details. Please carefully select the correct category and observe the criteria required. Not every product, venue or service will meet all the relevant points, but you might want to tell us about something else you offer or how you overcome not meeting a particular criteria. This is your opportunity to stand out from the crowd and prove you are the best. You need to present your company and products to their full potential, be creative, think how I can stand out from the crowd, think about your business and what you can create/offer to impress the judges. The look of your entry is very important, consider your presentation and how you can be noticed, you can provide film footage of your presentation if you are confident to do so. present folders/portfolios, printed albums and any additional items/products that set you apart from your competition. Consider why your clients choose you, why you are the best and why you should enter the awards? Remember to include information about you, your business, and your product or service offered. Supporting material Please provide all necessary back-up material: explanations of the purpose of the product or service and testimonials from customers. Also provide full details of your company including your point-of-sale material, brochure and prices. Your submission should be accompanied by photographs, no more than 50 images and products/samples where possible. High quality images on disc or memory stick are also acceptable. However, we recommend you retain a copy for your own records as we accept no liability for the loss or damage of judging material supplied. In addition, please provide evidence to support your entry, such as testimonials from couples, photographs and, if possible, a sample of the product. Nominations received with inadequate support documentation may not be considered. As there will be no opportunity to formally ‘present’ your entry to the judges, it is vital that support materials are of the highest quality. You can display items on the judging day, we require you to confirm that you will do this prior to the judging day. You may also consider additional support material such as DVD's or memory sticks. Remember: The judges are looking at a lot of entries and they like you to make it as easy as possible for them to access the information to be able to make their decision. They love to get a 'wow' submission that stands out from the crowd. All information supplied by entrants will be accepted as correct at time of receipt. The Essex Wedding Awards has no responsibility for any inaccuracies within submission data. Unfortunately, we cannot accept liability for items that are lost or in any way damaged during the judging process.   • When will the winners be announced?
    The shortlist of finalists will be announced one week after judging has taken place. They will be announced on this web site, by email and our social media platforms. We will also announce these details on Main Event Wedding shows social media. The winners will be announced at an awards dinner event to be held at Chelmsford City Racecourse Estate on Thursday 21st November 2024. The black-tie awards evening will be open to everyone who wishes to attend and comprises of a three-course silver service dinner, celebrity compere, an awards presentation ceremony, followed by a celebration party for all. Following the event there will be six pages of coverage with images and details of all the winners in the following issue of Absolute Bridal magazine. This magazine is handed out free to brides at all of the Essex wedding shows that Main Event Wedding Shows Ltd will appear in the January 2025 issue. What fantastic coverage to get the message out about your success? Although we cannot guarantee that you will win an award, we can promise you a memorable evening!
